The annual Christmas party. Everyone remembers last year’s, the laughs, the dancing, the story someone still brings up in meetings, and now it’s time to top it. So what kind of celebration are you after this year? A big night with dinner and dancing, or something more relaxed with drinks and a catch up?
It’s often about more than a night out these days. Teams want to wrap up the year, say thank you and spend proper time together, with a bit of team building or a meeting first and the celebrating after work. Whatever you choose, it needs to work for everyone, from cocktails to non alcoholic drinks, with food that suits every diet.
Getting the location right for your Christmas party
Your first thought is location. How can I ensure everyone from the team can get to the Christmas party easily? The easier it is to get to the event, the more likely guests will already arrive in a great mood. Whereas, if the event is tricky to get to, it’s likely everyone will be arriving feeling slightly stressed and overwhelmed, certainly not in the festive spirit. Ensuring the location is easily accessible is the first important factor.
When looking at a location that’s easy for everyone to get to, it’s important you find somewhere close by to public transport. That way if attendees are travelling by train, tube’s, buses, taxi’s or even driving it’s super convenient for all guests no matter their preferred mode of transport.
The location also tells guests what kind of event to expect. A shared Christmas party with other companies feels very different to a party just for your team, and the postcode sets that tone before anyone arrives. It helps to think about the purpose behind the party too. It doesn’t have to be a boozy evening. You could start with a wrap up of the year presentation, then move on to the after work celebrations.

Why Mayfair works as a festive celebration location
London at Christmas has a completely different feel. Fairy lights, decorated streets and that cosy festive atmosphere. Bond Street is lit up for the season and the famous Christmas displays at hotels like Claridge’s, so guests are in the festive spirit from the moment they arrive. Beyond the transport practicalities, Mayfair’s reputation adds something to the event itself. It’s an area known for its upmarket feel, so hosting your Christmas party here sets the tone before guests even walk through the door.
With Green Park, Hyde Park Corner and Bond Street stations all close by, plus easy access from Victoria, guests travelling by tube, bus or train have a straightforward journey whichever direction they’re coming from.
What a good Christmas party package should include
When you’re set on your location it’s time to start narrowing down a venue within that location. What you’re looking for in a Christmas package will play a key role here but what makes a good a Christmas party package?
When it comes to Christmas, food is high on everyone’s radar. No one wants a great location but disappointing food. That truly ruins an event. There’s likely lots of different dietary requirements within one team and it can feel a bit overwhelming at times trying to think of somewhere that will cater for all. You want a venue you know can provide great catering for everyone.
The catering also provides a key role in the atmosphere so it’s important to consider what you want that to look like. Canapés being served throughout the room is great for when people are constantly moving around, socialising and networking but still able to enjoy the delicious food. Whereas if you’re looking for a more traditional atmosphere a traditional three course meal works well.
Drinks matter too. Not everyone is drinking, so look for a venue with a good choice of non alcoholic options alongside the usual festive drinks.
Ultimately, the right Christmas party package should take the pressure off you and let you focus on enjoying the celebration alongside your team. Look for a venue that flexes to your needs. That could mean tailoring the menu to suit dietary requirements, choosing between canapés or a sit down meal, adapting the package to fit your guest numbers and budget, or using the space in the way that suits your day. If you want a presentation first and a party after, the venue should be able to set the rooms up for both
A good package handles the details so you don’t have to, leaving you free to sit back and enjoy a Christmas party that’s worth talking about come January.
